Acupuncture is a complete form of medicine in its own right, and is commonly used in pets for pain management in arthritic problems, as well as other painful lameness and back problems. Acupuncture is frequently used where nerve problems occur causing muscle weakness or paralysis. Other conditions which can respond to the healing and balancing properties of this form of treatment include skin conditions, immunological disorders, and hormonal imbalances. In many circumstances, the treatment is combined with conventional Western medicine with the aim of reducing the side effects of the medication. I always work in conjunction with your primary vet and any treatments that your pet has already been prescribed.
During treatments, I use extra-fine needles or non invasive means of stimulating acupuncture points which means that your pet won’t feel pain from the needles, only the full benefits of acupuncture itself.
