About Us

At the Nottingham Canine Hydrotherapy Centre we dedicate our services to ensuring that your dog has the best Complimentary Hydrotherapy Care possible. Established in 2001 and full members of the Canine Hydrotherapy Association, we are one of the most established pools in the UK and more especially the Midlands and have pioneered Hydrotherapy - bringing it to the attention of vets throughout the North Midlands. Our methods used in swimming have been sought by new hydrotherapists coming into the industry and we have trained new centre owners as far away as Aberdeen.
We offer a family run business with a welcoming & friendly atmosphere, in pleasant and tranquil surroundings at our own home in what we and many of our clients consider to be a 'little bit of the countryside in the town!'
Primarliy a rehabilitation centre, with hydrotherapy being pool based - in a weightless & non-impact environment - followed by hot spa treatment, before being showered and dried for the journey home. We are bound by the rules of the CHA & every dog that attends the centre requires that a referral is obtained from the pets veterinary surgeon - however, this does not mean that only dogs with injury can swim, but that we still have to have the permission to swim any dog even just for fitness.
Our sessions are tailored to each individual dog & last from 45 minutes to one hour duration (even longer if we are completing the treatment with prescription shampoos etc).
At the moment we are in the process of updating our website - our centre has undergone a beautiful refurbishment - so keep an eye out or arrange to call in and see the new centre.

I travel 70 miles to give Marvin the best treatment!
Miss carter Reviewed on 16th July, 2010

Amanda, Steve and Tracey first helped our family retriever, who, in his later years, suffered greatly with his hip dysplasia.
With their help his quality of life and muscle strength grew massively, it was down to all the hard and wonderful work at Nottingham Canine Hydrotherapy.
We wouldn't have had him around for as long as we did if it wasn't for them.
I moved to Cheshire a few years ago, and when my Labrador recently had an injury to his leg I just knew I wanted to travel down to Nottingham for him to get his treatment and it was well worth the trips.
Steve, being in the pool with Marvin, really helped him stay calm.
Amanda, Steve and Tracey have the most brilliant understanding of dogs and both of mine felt completely relaxed and calm as soon as they get there.
Couldn't have asked for a more helpful, friendly and reassuring service!

Helped our Paddy live along and happy life.
Mrs Carter Reviewed on 14th July, 2010

Our Golden Retiever Paddy developed hip displacia when he was 12 years old in 2003. Our vet recommened we try hydrotherapy which would probably help his hips by trying to build up his muscles to help with his walking and quality of life.

From our first visit we were made very welcolme,he swam once a week for nearly 3 years then we sadly lost him.Iknow we would'nt have had him for 15 years if it had'nt have been for the excellent skill and care of Steve Amanda and Tracey.

We have remained friends them all and now take our 3 year old retiever Dylan to have him shampooed when ever he needs it and I will not hesitate if ever he needed any hydrotherapy treatment to ask the vet for a referral to The Nottingham Canine Hydrotherapy Centre with Steve Amanda and Team with their excellent professional care and attention.

The new pool room looks absolutely fabulous.

Simply Excellent!
Miss Singh Reviewed on 28th June, 2010

My Border Collie had an accident when she was about 6 months old which led to her having a femoral head excision at Cambridge University. Her vet recommended that we take her for hydrotherapy. Straight away I was refered by him to Nottingham Canine Hydrotheraphy Centre.
I was very worried about her going because of the extent of her injury and the fact that she was such a young puppy. Looking back I don't know what I was worried about! Whizz was in very safe, capable hands. Steve and Amanda understood all about the injury and the operation Whizz had been through. Furthermore, Whizz really enjoyed the swimming sessions. She used to be really excited about going in the pool with Steve, her favourite part was the shower!
The next time we visited the vets, the vet couldn't believe the progress Whizz had made. Within a few months you couldn't even tell she had anything wrong with her leg at all. The vet always said is was due to the swimming, walking alone wouldn't have produced such good results so quickly.
Sadly Whizz died about 2 years ago. Not forgetting the great work that Steve & Amanda did, I've just started swimming my new Border Terrier puppy, Bracken. Thankfully she doesn't carry any injuries, but I am swimming her to tighten up the muscles in her front legs. I had no hesitation in going back to Steve & Amanda's pool because of the excellent service and results I received before. They are so experienced in what they do it really puts your mind at ease. And not just their experience with swimming dogs, but their experience of dogs in general.
By the way, the new pool is fantastic!

Giving better quality of life

My dog babe has been under the care of Nottingham Hydrotherapy center for 2 years now. She loves it there. The level of care that they provide is unquestionable and I do believe that if I hadn't of taken my dog there that she would not be walking unaided today.

Superb Family Run Business
Ms IRVINE Reviewed on 26th June, 2010

I was fortunate enough to discover this hydrotherapy centre several years ago when one of my older neapolitan mastiffs developed some arthritis problems in her hip. I was very anxious before I went along to the centre as my breed of dog had received some bad press around isolated cases of aggression. In addition my bitch was quite set in her ways and could be very stubborn about new experiences. When my husband and I arrived at the centre we were made to feel extremely welcome by the owners and to my delight the owners listened to everything that we explained and were fantastic with our dog (this is no mean feat as most vets could not listen to our instructions and ended up putting themselves in risky situations). My husband and I are both sticklers for customer service, well-educated staff and in such cases, compassion and understanding for dogs. We were in no way disappointed when we met Amanda and Steve (owners of the Centre)and since our first visit all those years ago their commitment and dedication to customers and their dogs has not waivered.
We have since swum several of our dogs for various reasons (all of which have been giant breeds including our current St Bernards)and we are still constantly surprised at just how far this Centre will go to accommodate us and at no point have we ever been charged any extra for this superior service.
In short, we would recommend Nottingham Canine Hydrotherapy Centre to anyone, whether it be for improvements for medical reasons or just to develop general fitness for your dog. You won't find a more established, better equipped, knowledgeable, experienced hydrotherapy centre anywhere - and believe me there are other pools around that charge a lot more for an inferior service.

We have used this centre for 4 of our chow chows and cannot praise Steve,Amanda & Tracy enough for their help and care.
2 dogs used the pool after surgery and 2 for fitness.
They were all very knowledeable and proffessional.
It was a very friendly enviroment. The dogs loved them and the therapy did produce results. Fully recommended.
