![]() | “Savage shih tzu!” Mrs John Reviewed on 3rd April, 2012I booked my 19 month old shih tzu in for a groom this morning at 9am as my usual groomer could not fit him in for a couple of weeks and it was hard to define his head from his tail. I read the prveious review and now how I wish I had taken note, and not bothered. On arrival he was visibly frightened and the groomer seemed to take time to gain his trust and her demeanour appeared professional. She advised me when he would be ready and I left. Just before I was due to pick him up I received a phone call from my daughter telling me the groomer had phoned and said she would not be completing the cut as he had bitten her and to go and pick him up. I then phoned the groomer to check she was ok and to tell her I was on my way. She was very aggressive and her attitude was awful. She told me he had been a "right pain" and to come straight away. When I told her I thought her attitude inappropriate, she repled that me ringing to check she was ok was inappropriate and hung up. What was I supposed to say to her? On arriving at the shop, she was no where to be seen and my dog was tied up in the actual shop with a man cleaning the windows. I asked him what had happened, he said he didn't like having his legs done and bit her. Apparently this is common with shih tzu's and surely he would have shown signs of distress before he reacted in a way so out of character. My dog was visibly frightened and I was very upset too! I feel this was handled very badly and although I feel bad she was bitten, part of me thinks this was totally avoidable. Also the attitude was awaful. A phone call advising me the cut could not conclude would have sufficed. My regular dog groomer has informed me this is a hazard of the job and that time and care could have avoided this with a nervous dog. I wish I had stuck with my regular groomer, who has never had any problems with my dog and would recommend avoiding this establishment to anyone who cares about their dog. |
