 | “Very disappointing service” Ms Winwood Reviewed on 3rd July, 2010
I had heard a lot of good things about West Hagley Aviaries and was eager to visit. For a relatively small business they had a large variety of birds including canaries/finches, parakeets, doves/pigeons and even jackdaws(!)- all kept in adequately clean and spacious conditions. In short, my only problem was the reception I received – or utter lack thereof, if I am to be honest. On entry the staff didn’t even so much as glance up at us, and when we did finally manage to get hold of some attention (after much throat-clearing and ‘excuse-me’s), the member of staff we spoke to was rude and unhelpful. She spoke to me in a curt and condescending manner, as though I knew nothing about birds and she knew everything (I’ve been bird-keeping for over ten years now and take an active interest in it – in other words, I know my stuff), and to top it off she didn’t even listen properly to what I had to say regarding a bird I was interested in, and seemed to feel our presence in the shop to be more of an annoyance than a potential sale (wonderful sales-tactics, for sure). No, I don’t think I’ll be going back there again in a hurry. |
